Children's Ballet

Ages 2 – 7 in our Long Island City studios

We make dance fun while learning. Classes rooted in the foundation of ballet begin at age 2 and build to age 7. The curriculum was created to encourage age appropriate creativity, musicality, and physicality. Your child will dance and have fun with an emphasis on the foundations of ballet. Dancers will be guided through creative movement, basic ballet steps, and more!

For students who are new to dance we offer the opportunity to take a trial class before registering!

Dance with Me

Ages 2+
This class has been specially designed for 2 year olds who are not yet comfortable being in a class alone. Each child is joined in the class by a parent or caregiver who will be the child’s “dancing partner”. We use proven movement exercises, games, stories and other activities. These dancers are introduced to the joy of creative movement in a fun, family friendly musical setting.

The Nutcracker

Students from the Joffrey Ballet School’s Children's & Youth Ballet program will present the full two act holiday tradition, “The Nutcracker” at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center.

As a work for students, it is an ideal challenge and gives many opportunities to dancers from the "babies" to the young adults as a collaboration with the Ballet Trainee Program. Set to what is regarded as Tchaikovsky's best ballet score, the story tells the courage and love of a small girl, Clara, in breaking the wicked spell held over the Nutcracker Prince.

The Joffrey Ballet School Children’s & Youth Ballet Programs proudly present the innovative retelling of the classic Peter Pan. Experience the story of a boy who can fly, and his adventures to the island of Neverland with your favorites characters reimagined.

This live performance will be presented on May 19, 2024 at Laguardia Performing Arts Center. "Second star to the right and straight on til morning”. We bring the magic to life, for your family to enjoy a place where you never have to grow up — a place where all that you wish for can come true.

Enroll today to join our performance, as a part of your Children’s Spring 2024 Registration. Study the curriculum developed for the classroom that will become the choreography of our show. Return to the stage with our fully-produced, premiere performance of Peter Pan!

Refund Policy
It is the policy of the Center for American Dance / Joffrey Ballet School that all tuition and other fees paid shall not be refunded at any time, regardless of the time of cancellation by the student or student's parents/guardians or whether the relevant program has commenced. In the event that the relevant program has been cancelled by the Center for American Dance / Joffrey Ballet School, the School will make best efforts to move the student into a substantially similar program or if the program is not rescheduled then the student will receive a credit to be used towards Joffrey programming within one calendar year from the end date of the originally scheduled program.
Return Policy
A fee of $15.00 will be charged for any credit card/debit card charge not honored by the bank for any reason when processing any credit card/debit card charge. Please call us no less than thirty (30) days in advance of any change to your credit card/debit card account to prevent this $15.00 fee from being charged

Program Description & Registration

Students register for the academic year with a minimum financial commitment for the Fall Semester. This is not a drop in class/program. Students enrolling for the Fall semester will have their enrollment automatically renewed for the Spring semester on December 1st unless they “Opt Out”. Those who wish to opt out in Spring, will need to email [email protected] with the subject line “JBS Children’s/Youth Ballet Program Spring Opt Out” and include their dancer’s name and classes they are enrolled in by December 1st.

OPTION 1: Full Payment Terms
Full Pay & Credit Card/Debit Card Charge Authorization:

Joffrey Ballet School offers customers the opportunity to purchase the right to participate on full semester and annual payment options. Joffrey Ballet School accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and AMEX credit card/debit card payments to permit customers to pay for these in full.

I acknowledge and agree to pay for the right to take classes at Joffrey Ballet School and in consideration of such right granted by Joffrey Ballet School, for the above total for the contract of sessions designated above by amount. I hereby authorize Joffrey Ballet School to charge the credit card/debit card noted below in order to pay this full payment.

OPTION 2: Installment Payment Terms
Auto-Pay & Credit Card/Debit Card Charge Authorization:

Joffrey Ballet School offers customers the opportunity to purchase the right to participate in an installment payment option. Joffrey Ballet School accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and AMEX credit card/debit card credit card/debit card payments to permit customers to pay for these classes in installments. 

I acknowledge and agree to pay for the right to take classes at Joffrey Ballet School and in consideration of such rights granted by Joffrey Ballet School, do promise to pay Joffrey Ballet School for the above total for the contract classes designated above by amount. I hereby authorize Joffrey Ballet School to charge the credit card/debit card noted below each 30 days in order to pay these installments.

Trial Class, Questions & Comments

Joffrey Dance Center is located at 47-10 Austell Pl, 4th Floor, Long Island City, NY 11101

Joffrey Ballet School understands that young children may require the opportunity to try out any new activity. Our Trial Class program gives the child and their family an opportunity to take a class to determine if the program is a good fit before registering for a semester commitment.

A trial class is required since registration requires a student to commit to the term. The $20 fee for this trial class will be credited to the dancer's account if they choose to register. This fee is non-refundable.
