Maria Oka

Joffrey Ballet School

Maria Oka started training in ballet in Yamaguchi, Japan. From there, she moved to the United States and trained at Kirov Ballet Academy of Washington, D.C. She later graduated from the Joffrey Ballet School in New York under the mentorship of Era Jouravlev and Stacy Caddell. She joined Ajkun Ballet Theater where she performed Sugar Plum Fairy, Arabian, Chinese characters. Additionally, she was a guest dancer at Delta Festival Ballet and Brighton Ballet Theater. She received first place in the ballet and contemporary division at a Japanese competition where she choreographed. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she took an interest in anatomy through practicing yoga. Currently, she is freelancing for different dance projects, modeling, and inspiring others as a yoga teacher.
